DVWGS Lancaster County Trip

Saturday, June 25, 2016, starting at 11:00 am

We will meet at Clearwater Ponds, 1060 Reading Rd, Narvon PA 17555

We will have a presentation by Ray, the hands-on owner of Clearwater. He will provide background on Clearwater and share his knowledge about ponds, fish etc. Clearwater has 20,000 feet under cover, filled with pond plants, fish, equipment, water spouting statuary and so forth. The fish tanks hold 11,500 gallons of water.

Join the gang for lunch (optional) at Shady Maple Smorgasbord, 129 Toddy Drive, East Earl, PA 17519 --"200 feet of deliciously authentic Pennsylvania cooking". --More food than one could imagine. Saturday lunch (11AM to 3:15PM) $19.99 adult & $17.99 for seniors. Dinner starts at 3:16PM with a higher cost.

On the lower level of the smorgasbord is a 40,000 sq ft gift shop. The gift shop has a simpler, low cost lunch option -- the Dutchette Restaurant -- with good food and a nice salad bar.

Shady Maple Farm Market, on the same property, attracts grocery shoppers from surrounding states. You will want to bring a cooler if you plan to visit the grocery store which has a very inviting produce and bakery goods selection. There is also a lunch location in the grocery store. There is also a great hardware store. -- Goods Hardware.

Finally, move on to Black Creek Nursery, a 90,000 sq ft greenhouse that is truly stunning in terms of beauty and selection of plants. This is the largest greenhouse in Lancaster County, with a vast selection of annuals, perennials and native plants. Black Creek is between Clearwater and Shady Maple, a short distance down the road. Black Creek Nursery, 211 East Black Creek Rd, East Earl PA, 17519

Thanks to Jim and Beverly Oehlert for doing the leg work to find and set up this DVWGS day,
