Garden and Plant Societies
The Delaware Valley Water Garden Society is fortunate to be located in an area with many active garden and plant societies. Here are some of the co-exhibitors and friends we have made at the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show.
The Hardy Plant Society, Mid-Atlantic Group membership includes passionate like-minded gardeners and many of the major plant growers and breeders as well as major public gardens and arboretums in the mid-Atlantic region and beyond. Our members participate in workshops, lectures and receive newsletters with articles by well-known garden writers. We hold a Members-Only Open Garden Day with Reception, Fall Gardeners’ Market, All-Day Spring Symposium and Seed Exchange. We arrange shopping days at area wholesale nurseries at wholesale prices. In addition, members can choose to open their gardens for tours to fellow members through our directory. We offer ‘Pop Up’ events throughout the year. We collaborate with area institutions to bring lectures and programs to our audience that increase their knowledge of horticulture and the institutions that support that interest. We offer both domestic and international garden-tour trips.

The North American Rock Garden Society, Delaware Valley Chapter is a group of gardeners immersed in the world of rock gardening. We are eager to share our interests, knowledge, and plants with others. Through meetings, garden tours, plant sales, and workshops, our group provides members with the opportunity to dig deeper into gardening. We are interested in plant cultivation and propagation. Our members enjoy rock gardens, alpine gardens, troughs and other containers, raised beds, bog gardens, sand or scree beds, woodland gardens, native plant gardens, and more.

Greater Philadelphia Chapter is one of the many chapters of the society. The Delaware Valley Fern & Wildflower Society welcomes people at all levels of knowledge with a passion for studying ferns and native plants in their habitat, to encourage the enjoyment of native Ferns and Wildflowers by cultivating and propagating them in the home, gardens and conservatories; by promoting their conservation and preservation; and by providing a forum for the exchange of information and expertise. We hold two meetings a year, a summer picnic, and monthly walks through the wildflowers and noteworthy gardens in between.
